Position Overview:
The Manager, US Sales Operations and Business Insights, supports the operational effectiveness and execution of sales strategy within the US Commercial Operations organization for the aligned business unit. Reporting to the Director, US Sales Operations and Business Insights and working closely with the Associate Director, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality analytics, reporting, dashboarding, and operational support that help inform business decisions and strengthen field execution.
This individual partners with field sales, marketing, and cross-functional partners to answer business questions, identify trends, support business performance reviews, and translate partner needs into actionable results. This role contributes to developing dashboards, reporting tools, and process improvements. It supports implementing Commercial Operations capabilities, including AI-enabled tools that improve insight generation and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Field Strategy and Sales Force Enablement
- Serve as a strategic partner to Executive Sales Director(s), Regional Sales Directors, Business Unit leaders, and senior commercial partners.
- Support field sales and commercial partners by delivering analyses and operational assistance that contribute to improving execution against brand and sales objectives.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and provide data-driven insights and recommendations within assigned workstreams.
- Analyze sales force execution, business performance, and activity trends to identify opportunities, risks, and recommended follow-up actions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners and vendors to support delivery of assigned sales operations and analytics initiatives.
Business Insights, Analytics, and Solution Delivery
- Design and execute analyses of sales, activity, competitive market, and performance data to identify trends and opportunities and summarize findings in a clear, audience-appropriate manner.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that support business reviews and field decision-making.
- Support enhancement of CRM, dashboards, and reporting solutions by capturing requirements, validating outputs, and helping ensure business relevance.
- Respond to ad hoc requests for insights with a high degree of accuracy, appropriate context, and clear communication tailored to partner needs.
- Support development, testing, and adoption of AI-enabled tools and workflows that improve how insights are built, streamline manual work, and improve efficiency in the field.
Cross-Functional Leadership and Operational Excellence
- Support business priorities, brand initiatives, and operational needs through timely delivery of data insights and operational solutions.
- Provide analytical and operational partnership for field-based partners within assigned scope of responsibility.
- Work with CRM, MDM, data, reporting, and other partner teams to support integrated and compliant execution of go-to-market activities.
- Help find opportunities for process improvement, consistency, and stronger role clarity across recurring operational activities.
Project Leadership, Collaboration, and Compliance
- Lead timelines, results, and partner communication for assigned projects and recurring deliverables.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners to support execution of analytics and operations initiatives.
- Detect data quality issues, business process gaps, and delivery risks, and drive or support resolution with the appropriate partners.
- Ensure that analyses, recommendations, and operational processes are conducted in a compliant manner and in line with AZ values and standards.
- Use project management tools and structured ways of working to organize and track assigned work.
Essential Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Life Science, Data Science, Business, Marketing, or a comparable area
- 3+ years working with complex analytics, reporting, business insights, sales operations, or related areas, ideally within pharmaceutical/biotech or healthcare.
- Solid understanding of data manipulation, harmonization, and integration for analytics purposes.
- Experience in user-centric dashboard design and development.
- Experience building mockups, markups, and proofs of concept.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and assist in delivering business-relevant solutions.
- Ability to identify data quality concerns and support resolution.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Confidence in requirements capturing and partner management.
- Ability to lead defined projects or workstreams independently while escalating broader strategic issues as needed.
- Ability to generate insight from complex and disparate data sources.
- Demonstrated capability to apply data literacy, timely engineering, and systems thinking to support sales management and commercial analytics activities.
- Experience supporting AI-enabled solutions through business requirement gathering, testing, validation, and adoption.
- Ability to travel <10%.
- Fluency in English, both written and oral.

Preferred Requirements/Skills:
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience, such as MBA, in a related field.
- Experience in advanced analytics in healthcare, research/consulting, or pharmaceutical/biotech organizations.
- Experience with specialty and/or orphan/rare disease therapies.
- Experience with external data such as claims data, EMR, and third-party data.
- Validated experience with CRM, alignment, and analytical applications.
- Broad experience with the US market.
- Strong storytelling abilities.
- Expertise in analytical tools such as SQL, Qlik, and Tableau.
- Experience with MDM.
- Statistical, regression, and other analytical skills.
- Sales experience is a plus.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 115,693.60 to 151,847.85.AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).
