We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly capable Senior Scientist - Formulation to join our Early Product Development and Manufacturing (EPDM) team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with analytical, solid-state, and biopharmaceutics scientists within EPDM, as well as with colleagues from other functions, to drive scientific innovation within drug projects. Accountabilities

As a Senior Scientist you will:

  • Plan/Perform pre-formulation studies of APIs based on the available preclinical data to develop a strategy for clinical dosage forms.

  • Designing robust oral formulations for early clinical studies that meets patient needs  target product profile.

  • Driving scientific product design, process, and product performance understanding to influence strategies in early product development, with a line of sight to late-stage development.

  • Planning and conducting lab-based experimental work to achieve optimal products ready for scale-up to clinical plans in accordance with project timelines.

  • A strong presence in the laboratory, acting as a role model for less experienced colleagues

  • Keeping abreast of scientific literature and proactively applying existing and novel approaches to projects.

  • Representing the formulation skill area in projects to drive science and innovation.

  • Collaborating closely with analytical, manufacturing, biopharmaceutics, and solid-state scientists within EPDM, as well as external collaborators, to ensure all goals are met.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Degree (preferably Masters or PhD or equivalent experience) in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related subject.

• Excellent track record of formulating and characterising a variety of dosage forms.

• Experience in formulation and process development of poorly soluble molecules.

• Experience in managing outsourced activities at Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).

• Track record as a scientific leader, providing scientific challenge and direction to colleagues.

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Proven leadership in the scientific subject area of formulation.

• In-depth understanding of how the physicochemical and solid-state properties of the drug affect absorption.

• Track record of authoring high-quality regulatory submissions for IND/IMPD.

• Ability to challenge the status quo and implement a culture of continuous improvement.

• Global mentality and ability to work across multiple geographical locations.
