Introduction to the role:

Clinical Manufacturing & Supply is an integrated end-to-end global supply chain organisation which is accountable for designing, planning, sourcing, making and distributing clinical trial material for phase I-IV clinical studies. As well as the internal and external GLP/GMP manufacture of a wide range of drug substance and drug products.

Our organisation plays an important role at AstraZeneca by ensuring on time in full supply of drug product to approximately 100,000 patients across 300 AstraZeneca clinical trial studies and a further 300 externally sponsored research studies in over 50 countries.

The CM&S Digital & Lean team are responsible for the systems, data, analytics and improvement processes that are essential to support the clinical supply chain. This role would be in direct support of our Business Process Management (BPM) & Lean efforts to improve the efficiency of our function, enabling us to deliver more medicines to more patients in a more sustainable way.

Accountabilities:

The primary accountability for this role would be to simplify the digital document storage landscape our study managers and business leaders work within, so that critical information is readily available and easy to access. This would require the individual to:

  • Work with key stakeholders to determine the requirements for storage of and access to our critical information
  • Apply BPM & Lean principles and thinking to create and implement a digital storage landscape that supports the quick and efficient retrieval and storage of essential information
  • To hand over to the business a robust and easily maintained solution that can be utilised for the foreseeable future

Essential skills & experience:

  • Computer literacy (experience in digital information management is preferred)
  • Self-starter with the ability to implement change
  • Positive attitude, team player
  • Proactive approach, the ability to work autonomously, resilient and enthusiastic
  • Happy to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organisation

No BPM or Lean experience is necessary, training will be provided within the placement. Key is a willingness to learn by doing and to collaborate with others.

This placement will take place from 02/06/2025 - 22/08/2025 and you can expect to hear from us by the end of March 2025.

This role will provide individuals with experience of working within the clinical supply chain environment in a large, global biopharmaceutical organisation. Clinical supply is where science meets with the patient for the first time and is critical to future growth.

The individual will also develop an understanding of Business Process Management and Lean, key business skills that are recognised across all industry sectors as essential methods to drive process improvement.
