Summary of the Group:

Biopharmaceutical Development (BPD) develops the broad range of scientifically-advanced, high-quality processes and methodologies required for the manufacture and supply of clinical products across the AstraZeneca’s biologics portfolio. CMC Project Management function within BPD plays a meaningful role in advancement of projects in the pipeline by strategic CMC leadership and coordination of in/out-licensing activities.

The Project Delivery and Systems Specialist is responsible for supporting project teams, project managers, and CMC Project leads to deliver upon their projects and financial targets. They support planning and development of the cross functional project plans and engaging and coordinating with functions to ensure the project schedule, costs and resource forecasts reflect the agreed strategy. This role has a moderate job complexity, and the successful candidate must have a high level of dedication, flexibility, and independence to meet requirements outlined below with minimal direction.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain Planisware (an enterprise resource planning - ERP - Platform) templates in close collaboration with departmental functions and project managers.
  • Resource and activity planning for early development projects
  • Super-user of financial systems used by the team (eg, COUPA, Oracle, etc).  Supports CMC PM team with managing cost items, cost item tracking, cost categorization, transaction/PO matching, reconciliation and month end close & accruals. 
  • Influences, develops, maintains, owns, and deploys key project management tools. Ensure tools are used appropriately, driving best practices and consistency across projects.
  • Engagement with Business initiatives.
  • Benchmarking and analytics. 

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent proven experience in a relevant technical discipline such as Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Immunology or Chemical Engineering.
  • 1-2 year of Project or PMO support experience (preferably in CMC) is helpful

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of biologics CMC development and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Project Management tools.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. Must be professional, dedicated, and detail-orientated.
  • Effective problem solving skills to manage a broad range of issues and projects and deliver innovative solutions
  • Highly organized and able to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and digital literacy.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with Planisware or other project & portfolio management system is strongly preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
  • working knowledge relevant to management of the technical disciplines represented within the CMC team is encouraged.
