Summary of Position:

The Procurement Specialist will be handling the implementation of strategic procurement activities as well as undertaking local operational procurement accountabilities in support of Canadian Business needs ensuring value for money and the highest level of Governance in all procurement processes.

In this role, you will collaborate with other Procurement, Finance and Canada Business stakeholders to analyze, source, evaluate and select suppliers, handle ongoing relationships, and implement demand and compliance measures. You will focus on a variety of spend categories and will work with regional category teams to support local deployment of Global Category strategy. The role provides deep Procurement experience as well as vast engagement experience across senior partners, external suppliers, and a diverse and global network of Procurement colleagues. This role is a steppingstone towards advancement within the broader Procurement organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead day-to-day activities related to AstraZeneca’s purchase to pay processes & tools and communications with business stakeholders, to ensure compliance to company procurement policies and improve the usage of the procurement tools. Actively participate in process simplification, improvement, and optimization efforts (i.e. process steps, internal guidelines, legal support model, documents, and templates etc.)
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders through the effective management of purchasing strategies and tactics to meet sales and operational requirements.
  • Drive the contracting process, recommending the right template or contracting approach, ensuring contract renewals and leading new contracts creation, negotiations/renegotiations of the T&C’s that leveraged spend and minimizes business risk, contracts administration (capturing signatures) and contract storage in the system.
  • Play a key role in running the end-to-end Source to Contract process. You will handle the procurement of services and will conduct sourcing activities (including issuance of RFP/RFQ) that support the local Canadian business needs to ensure value for money for AstraZeneca.
  • Analyze proposals, making recommendations for supplier selection, prepare summary reports, display data, and make evaluative judgments based on analysis of factual information.
  • Work efficiently with the Global and/or Regional Category leads. You will give guidance on local requirements, identify challenges & opportunities, and drive the global sourcing strategies through the application of the Source to Contract process within the Canadian business. You will advise the preparation and delivery of each key element of the end to end sourcing and contracting process and influence best practice, standardization and ensure compliance across the life cycle of the process.
  • Work efficiently within cross-functional teams with a focus on driving progress, mitigating risk, and identifying areas of opportunity and/or challenge.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of relevant procurement work experience, with a background operating in a complex, matrix, global organization or heavily regulated industry.
  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree or equivalent experience in Procurement or a related field (Business, Finance or Supply Chain).
  • Experienced with indirect procurement categories.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Coupa.
  • Advanced analytical skills including solid understanding of Pivot Table, Lookup formulas, etc.
  • Experience in contract negotiations with an understanding of contract life cycle, legal parameters, legally binding agreements.
  • Strong interpersonal and business partnering skills.
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and analytical skills with ability to handle scoring for varied types of procurement projects and to evaluate pricing proposals.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to craft a message that gets through to the audience.
  • Strong project management skills: can lead multiple projects/tasks, prioritize and work in a demanding face-paced environment.
