Director Study Management (DSM)
Oss, Netherlands (3 days per week office based)
Full-time 


Your challenge:

As our new DSM, you will drive success through recruiting, retaining, leading, and developing the team of Global Study Associates (GSA) and Global Study Managers (GSM) (Team 10-15 fte). Your role is pivotal in providing direction, support, and solutions to project and operational challenges, ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical trials.
At all times you ensure that your team members are well-trained and operate in full compliance with ethical standards, company policies, and established procedures. You'll oversee performance management by providing constructive feedback and recognising achievements, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


What else will you be doing?
•    Leading a team with a global scope, leveraging cultural intelligence to effectively manage and collaborate across diverse teams and geographies.
•    Taking an active role in setting and implementing the vision and strategy for the Study Management and Operations (SMO) Hub, ensuring alignment with the broader Haematology Clinical Operations Vision & Strategy.
•    Developing the leadership capabilities of your team, ensuring they possess the confidence and competence to support complex, global projects.
•    Engaging confidently with global stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment across all levels of the organisation.
•    Promoting and encouraging innovation and creativity within the team and work closely with Leadership and Global Study Leads to optimise resource forecasting and study team allocation.
•    Ensure compliance with external regulations and AstraZeneca standards, and work across Hubs to develop globally efficient ways of working.


What do you bring?
As an inspiring and proactive leader with strong clinical study management and coaching skills, you know how to motivate and excel your team. In addition, you:
•    Bring at least 5 years of project management experience in clinical research within a global pharmaceutical company or CRO.
•    Bring a minimum of 3 years direct line management experience with a team of Clinical Operations professionals.
•    Early-phase and/or oncology experience (preferred).
•    Have comprehensive knowledge of the clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process.
•    Demonstrate strong leadership skills, cultural intelligence, and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively across a global landscape.
•    Are well-versed in ICH-GCP principles.
•    Have excellent command of the English language.

We will only consider candidates who are already living in Europe and are happy to relocate within easy commuting distance to our offices in Oss, The Netherlands.

The Team
You will work in the Clinical Operations Team in Oss which consists of >30 experienced professionals in various roles. We work closely with AstraZeneca's Haematology Clinical Operations teams in Toronto (CAN), US, UK (Cambridge) and Spain (Barcelona). The culture in Oss is informal, a great team spirit and a willingness to share and learn from each other. We all work for the same purpose: to develop drugs that make a difference in patients' quality of life.

Acerta Pharma 
At our international headquarters in Oss, the Netherlands, we are working to develop new treatment options for patients with specific types of blood cancer. Together with our colleagues of AstraZeneca in US, Canada, Spain and UK we are committed to innovative drug discovery and development, especially in the field of haematological oncology.

Acerta has received approval from both the US (FDA) and the European Regulator (EMA) for its small molecule BTK inhibitor for treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). In addition, AstraZeneca and Acerta Pharma are collaborating on a large number of other innovative medicines to treat haematological malignant diseases.
