Director, Portfolio and Capacity Management (Aggregate Planning)

The Director, Portfolio and Capacity Management (Aggregate Planning) provides business leadership and capacity management expertise to BioPharma Clinical Operations to ensure visibility and management of activity basedresource demand peaks across the portfolio including but not limited to:  functional FTE’s, Clinical drug supply, systems & technologies and Third Party Vendors;  working in collaboration with Clinical Functions.

This role delivers value to Biopharma Clinical Operations by:

  • Actively managing the Biopharma portfolio of work, working closely with alliance management and cross-functional leadership, BPO’s and the P&C team(s), ensuring visibility of aggregated Clinical plans to secure efficient and timely delivery according to business and clinical development priorities.

Defining and leading portfolio planning processes to drive efficient escalation and resolution of resource gaps/issues at the lowest level possible. 

Typical Accountabilities

As the Director, Portfolio Capacity Management (Aggregated Planning) for Biopharma Clinical Operations:

  • Serve as the Portfolio Capacity Management (Aggregated Planning) Lead – (Biopharma)
  • Active management of the Biopharma ClinOps function’s portfolio (early/late), enabling visibility of  aggregated Clinical plans aligned to internal functional and external vendor capacity across Clinical processes, systems, and technology, to ensure effective delivery.
  • Escalate capacity issues/gaps and enable cross-ClinOps and Clinical Supply Chain options/solutions
  • Core member of the Biopharma ClinOps Capacity Management Team (COCMT) to ensure active management of the allocation of resource to their respective portfolio of work and focused and effective capacity issue-management including identification of options and impacts, decision-making at the appropriate level and escalation if required.
  • Work with Biopharma ClinOps departments to establish and continuously improve accuracy and visibility of real time resource demand
  • Work with Biopharma ClinOps functions and Operational data strategy team to maintain systems and tools, to ensure accurate data reporting and associated visualizations for area
  • Support Biopharma ClinOps with Portfolio impact assessments, ensuring impact on internal and external (Vendor) shared resources is part of decision making for Investment decisions
  • Work with the Head Portfolio & Capacity Management, Alliance management, Aggregated Planning Workstream lead and the Oncology P&C team to contribute to the operational, tactical and strategic management of Biopharma ClinOps capacity

Essential

Minimum Requirements / Preferred Background

  • University degree at Bachelor level, in a scientific or business discipline
  • Significant years of project/portfolio/capacity management, 10 years and global project leadership experience in a Clinical Development environment.
  • Broad drug development experience in a matrix environment, 10 years (ideally covering both project and line roles)
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience and understanding of business planning and capacity management process.
  • Proven ability with enterprise project management systems and production of visualizations
  • Expert knowledge of spreadsheets and internal tools used for oversight and management of capacity management, demand and supply

  • Demonstrated ability to interrogate, understand and apply project management data for scenario planning and modelling
  • Strategic mindset and thinking
  • Demonstrates capability for training, mentoring and coaching others
