Job Title: Patient Education Manager, Hematology and Nephrology, Northeast

Territory covers NY, CT, MA, RI, New Hampshire, ME. Preference in candidate location is NY/CT/MA

Introduction to role:

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of patients with rare diseases? As a Patient Education Manager (PEM) in Hematology and Nephrology for the Northeast region, you'll play a pivotal role in engaging the patient community. You'll conduct educational programs, partner with advocacy groups, and support infusion sites as the subject matter expert for REMS requirements and product education. Your mission is to empower patients and caregivers with knowledge about their disease state and Alexion’s OneSource Programs throughout their journey. You'll interact with a diverse group including patients, caregivers, nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and advocacy groups to address non-clinical barriers to patient education and onboarding. Accountabilities:

What you'll do:

Patient Engagement (50%)
- Create and manage regional patient engagement plans including educational events, community engagements, and face-to-face interactions.
- Deliver in-depth disease state and product education to empower patients/caregivers on their rare disease journey.
- Develop comprehensive patient programming strategies tailored to prioritize patient needs.
- Share materials on disease, diagnosis, and treatment support with patients as needed.
- Educate prescribed patients and caregivers on preparing for and what to expect during the infusion process for Alexion products.
- Capture and report local business insights to enhance strategic plans and improve patient experience.
- Set up and participate in events and educational initiatives for patients and caregivers.
- Build relationships through local advocacy groups, rare disease events, and attending patient events.
- Partner with Alexion Patient Advocacy Team to drive engagement and partnership.
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of patient education initiatives.

Health Care Org Site of Care Education & REMS Support (50%)
- Execute field visits at infusion centers to provide education on dosing, administration, disease state, and REMS requirements.
- Support ongoing REMS certifications of infusion sites of care.
- Collaborate with non-prescribing healthcare staff at infusion sites to ensure understanding and compliance with REMS components.
- Maintain accurate records of field activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support execution of ongoing compliance tactics related to all active REMS.
- Partner with Commercial REMS team to devise strategies supporting REMS.
- Develop relationships with infusion nurses and other staff to support patients.
- Engage in non-prescriber congresses and educational events on behalf of Alexion.

Essential Skills/Experience:

You will need to have:
- Minimum of 5 years total business experience in the healthcare or biotech industry.
- BA/BS Degree required; nursing, allied health, healthcare administration or rare disease support background desired (advanced degree a plus).
- Previous experience with IV infused products.
- Ability to travel up to 60-80% within a territory; travel may include evenings and weekends.
- Excellent presentation skills to diverse stakeholders in varied settings.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High initiative, solid work ethic, and consistent accountability.
- Demonstrated success working within cross-functional teams.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

We would prefer for you to have:
- At least 3 years field-based experience in account management, sales, or patient education preferred.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory components of the pharmaceutical industry; rare disease experience a plus.
- Certification or training in REMS.
- Strong understanding of REMS requirements and pharmaceutical regulations.
- Bi-lingual proficiency in Spanish language.
- Understanding of rare disease advocacy landscape.
- Experience educating and supporting patients/caregivers.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates initiative, teamwork, and accountability.
