What you’ll do
A critical part of AstraZeneca’s success, we provide medical leadership across the whole product lifecycle – from advising on Research & Development investment decisions to leading pre-launch scientific efforts and accelerating evidence-based healthcare changes in the real world.
The job responsibilities include:
Provide a comprehensive second-line technical and scientific information service to external customers in line with company and industry standards
Prepare and maintain all standard response documents relating to assigned AZ products
Proactively identify gaps in current library of response documents for assigned products.
Maintain strong working relationships with aligned members of the UK cross-functional team and Global Medical Information team for aligned brands
Maintain (and be able to articulate) good knowledge of the therapy area, competitor landscape and AZ commercial and medical strategies for aligned brands
Partake in project work as advised by Medical Information Manager and Lead
Proactively identify new (and support ongoing) innovation opportunities in the Medical Information area.
Support the Out of Hours Medical Information service on a rota basis if required
Develop regular and tangible medical information trends and insights and provide them to aligned brand and medical teams
Maintain strong working relationships and insight and knowledge sharing with aligned medical field team members (MSLs and Medical Educators)
Identification of areas for improvement in product knowledge in Sales teams based on enquiry insights
Perform technical review on new/updated local promotional material for aligned brands as required
Contribute to Medical mentoring support to Development Team through the delivery of product and/or therapy area training to sales/customer service staff.
Contribute to the development and execution of a medical brand plan where appropriate
Essential for the role
Life science degree or appropriate professional qualifications
Experience in Medical Information
Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
Experience with external customer interactions
Ability to optimally influence and interact with cross-functional colleagues
Understanding of basic pharmacovigilance concepts and requirements
Desirable for the role
Postgraduate qualification in the medical/scientific field
Product/therapy area knowledge for AZ brands/products
Awareness of NHS customer groups and other key customers
Knowledge of ABPI Code of Practice
Experience in medical writing
Broad range of IT experience
Project management experience
Technical review of promotional material experience
