Associate Director, RDU IT Portfolio Performance
The Associate Director of RDU IT Portfolio Performance is essential in managing and improving the performance of the IT portfolio at AstraZeneca while ensuring compliance within the RDU IT organization. This role emphasizes strategic alignment, effective portfolio management, and performance measurement to guarantee that IT initiatives provide maximum value to the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in IT project management, analytics, and leadership. Key responsibilities will include optimizing processes, monitoring portfolio performance, and ensuring that IT initiatives are aligned with organizational standards and objectives. This position will oversee the development and management of key dashboards that provide critical insights into RDU IT Leadership Team (ITLT), Alexion Leadership Team (ALT), and IT Business Partners (BP). This position will play a pivotal role in enhancing visibility across multiple IT domains, including rolling budget review, business pipeline management, value reporting, and tier management.
Accountabilities
• Designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards for RDU ITLT, ALT, and IT BP to provide real-time visibility into performance metrics and project statuses
• Overseeing the implementation and reporting of Master Data Services (MDS) and Rolling Budget Reports (RBR) to maintain data integrity and ensure availability for strategic initiatives
• Developing and implementing mechanisms for value reporting to assess the impact of IT initiatives and projects, promoting transparency and accountability
• Managing RDU IT tier management processes to facilitate project updates, resolve project issues, and escalate concerns to senior management as needed
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that dashboard outputs align with organizational needs
• Analyzing performance data and delivering actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership to foster continuous improvement and strategic alignment
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure clear communication regarding portfolio performance, risks, and opportunities
• Manage and provide guidance to managed services providers to optimize service delivery, and monitor their performance metrics to enhance operational efficiency
• Assisting in the management of the RDU IT budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet portfolio objectives
• Leading initiatives for project portfolio compliance and providing regular updates to senior IT leadership
• Driving necessary project management processes, including scope, schedule, risk, issue, resource, and budget management, to ensure effective execution and delivery
Essential Skills/Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in IT portfolio management or related fields, demonstrating a proven track record of performance improvement within an IT context.
• Strong leadership and managerial abilities, with a talent for motivating and guiding teams to achieve high performance.
• Proficiency in dashboard creation, data analysis, and performance measurement, with the capability to transform data into actionable insights.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including enterprise technology functions, to ensure alignment and successful achievement of objectives.
• Familiarity with portfolio and project management tools such as Planview, Jira, and ServiceNow, along with data analytics platforms like Power BI.
• Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable Skills/Experience
• Certifications such as PMP, Agile, ITIL, COBIT, or similar
• Knowledge of data visualization and analytics tools, particularly Qlik and Power BI.
