Introduction to Role:

Are you ready to step into a dynamic new environment and lead the delivery of Sustainability strategy and initiativeswithin Global Supply Chain & Strategy?  Due to an exciting strategic re-alignment within our GSC&S Therapy Area (TA)community, a brand-new TA Centre of Excellence (CoE) is being created, with opportunities for experienced individuals to make a real impact. 

The TA CoE will provide vital support to our community of Global Supply & Strategy Directors (GSSDs), Pre-Commercial Leads (GOLT leads), and Pre-Launch/Registration team who make up the entire Therapy Area communityThe CoE will support critical Business Processes across all the TA teams, to enable the GSSDs to focus on brand strategy and supply chain design for resilience and sustainability, and to enable the GOLT leads to focus on excellent preparation and execution of our rapidly growing pipeline of new products.For certain roles, including this one, leadership will extend across the entire GSC&S organisation.

We are looking for a self-motivated and engaged individual to identify, lead and reporton our strategic sustainability initiativesacross the GSC&S community. You will lead many of the initiatives associated forSustainable Product  Supply Chain Designs’ and for ‘Health Equity’, whilst collaborating with Global Logistics on ‘Carbon Negative through Green Logistics’. You will establish a Sustainability network to help you understand & guide GSCS initiatives, working with the programme leaders, as well as run the GSCS Sustainability Council and report into the Executive Sponsors.

Accountabilities:

  • The role will develop & implement the GSC&S Sustainability strategy and critical initiativesin collaboration with GSC&S and Operations functions, champion future sustainable, circular supply chain design.

  • Overarching support for GSC&S Sustainability ambition. 

  • Driving Carbon negative supply chains & industry leading growth by 2030. 

  • Lead sustainability strategy and initiatives, champion future sustainable, circular supply chain design.

  • Engage decisions at brand level to include sustainability and circularity aspects

  • Support GSSDs in embedding sustainability in the brand strategies 

  • Network strategy –long term network to deliver sustainability goals – sustainable supply chain design

  • Support access to healthcare - Resilience & COGs targets built into Brand Plans to ensure affordable equal access to medicines

  • Work with Network Strategy group to implement a siting decision trade-off model and integrate use of the model into the decision-making process

  • Engage with organisation to leverage driving sustainability as priority and included in decision making.  Build understanding ,awareness and engagement in team, reinforce through Business Processes

  • Identify business process improvements deliver improvement plans and projects

  • Ownership of the TA Sustainability A3and the GSCS Sustainability strategy documentation

  • Act as general sustainability SME and champion within the TA and GSC&S, ensuring standard methodology across the use of all relevant and available tools.

  • TA Sustainability point of contact & cultivate positive relationships with other sustainabilityinitiatives and functions. Represent GSC&S on the Operations SustainabilityNetwork Leaders Forum.

  • Ensure timely and compliant delivery of operational responsibilities such as monthly  & annual reporting.

  • Supply to overall TA efficiency & effectiveness.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of, and ability to create and develop strategy and identify improvements driving sustainable Supply chain design

  • Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships at all levels, manage partner and effective communication.

  • Capability to maintain a high-level view of projects while being hands-on and diligent when vital.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to operate independently.

  • Proficiency in understanding and following processes methodically.

  • Proactive self-starter with a strong focus on delivery.

  • Outcome-focused attitude, taking personal responsibility for delivering results while embracing change and applying a growth mindset to focus on client outcomes.

  • Highly efficient: able to navigate ambiguity and tackle problems in a fast-paced environment; able to influence without authority.

  • Influencing skills – drive awareness and increase skill levels for colleagues

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry with understanding of supply chain processes and requirements.

  • Experience in setting long-term strategic directions in support of wider business strategy.

  • Experience in Sustainability strategy development & implementation.
