We are seeking a highly innovative and motivated scientific leader to join the Advanced Translational Programs group as a Research Multi-Informatics Analyst.
Accountabilities
You will drive and support our dedicated spatial biology team within Advanced Translational Programs and work with Translational Pathology, Computational Pathology, Genomics, Proteomics, Bioinformatics and our wet lab to build confidence in patient selection strategies, delineate mechanism of action/resistance and therapeutic differentiation. This position will have a shared focus on enabling the digital transformation of our pathology strategies, through interfacing with key informatics and data management stakeholders as well as leading projects generating digital pathology and multimodal data in collaboration with pathologists and computer scientists within the department and across the organization.
The Advanced Translational Programs is embedded within Early Oncology and works in close collaboration with Discovery groups, Translational Medicine, Functional groups and Bioinformatics to ensure that strategies for the treatment and cure of disease are based on accurate analyses of oncology mechanisms. The incumbent will apply image analysis and machine learning in collaboration with a group of computational and biological scientists to perform translational oncology digital pathology research for programs in clinical development. For this position, we are seeking a demonstrated scientific leader with a consistent and outstanding record of creativity and performance in digital pathology or spatial ‘omics for cancer biology R&D, evidenced by peer reviewed publications in top tier journals, patent applications, and/or publicly available code repository.
What you'll do:
AstraZeneca seeks an experienced MD, DVM, PhD or MD/PhD scientist with the experience in discovering/developing insights from the analysis of tumors and tissues into testable clinical hypothesis, particularly as they relate to immuno-oncology and antibody-drug conjugates. You will have the unique opportunity to join a cross-functional team of pathologists, image analysts, bioinformaticians and translational medicine scientists. Using the latest imaging technologies and analysis tools, you will be responsible for developing an understanding of the tumor contexture and how it relates to sensitivity and resistance to AstraZeneca’s clinical stage oncology pipeline. Your insights and analysis will help drive the long-term translational for our promising early and late-stage programs.
Design, implement, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for handling large-scale multimodal data.
Automate and streamline workflows for efficient data processing, including quality control, alignment, filtering, and annotation.
Harmonize and normalize data across various sources to ensure consistency and robustness in analysis.
Apply best-in-class data integration methods for multi-omics datasets and ensure scalability, reproducibility, and reliability in your workflows.
Collaborate with teams across disciplines—bioinformaticians, wet-lab scientists, and clinical researchers—to deliver actionable insights that drive research forward.
Create clear, interactive visualizations and summary reports to communicate complex biological findings to diverse stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to work on high-throughput data types, such as RNA-Seq, scRNA-Seq, spatial transcriptomics, and clinical data, in a collaborative environment. Your contributions will be integral to advancing our understanding of disease biology and improving clinical outcomes.
