Reporting to the Director, Payer Evidence, Methods, & Access Affairs (PEMA), you will be accountable for unlocking the value of our medicines through the strategic design and delivery of economic models and payer evidence to HTA agencies and payers in Canada. Using your expertise in health economics and evidence generation, you will lead the creation of economic evidence plans, working with external clinical and payer experts, both in Canada and abroad, as well as a diverse cross-functional team to complete and implement your strategies. This includes conducting external literature reviews, exploring public databases, or generating specific real-world evidence to support your health economic modelling. You will provide thought leadership to the Canadian health economic community through publications and presentations. This role will make a difference in the way healthcare is valued and improve the lives of Canadian patients through access to innovative medicines.
Responsibilities
- You lead the full design, development, and deployment of high-quality economic dossiers to HTA agencies (i.e. CDA-AMC, INESSS) supporting reimbursement submission to the public healthcare system and private insurers, ensuring accurate, strategic, and timely filings for assigned portfolio.
- You will work with Global colleagues in critically assessing the applicability of health economic models and comparative evidence (ITCs/NMAs/MAICs), leading adaptations to meet Canadian requirements.
- You devise plans to demonstrate the value of our products to payers and HTA decision-makers, working with external experts, translating payer evidence into economic value, and supporting publications to benefit the scientific community. You will attend and present this evidence at external conferences and meetings.
- In collaboration with Market Access Strategy, you engage with external partners to validate economic evaluation strategies and novel approaches. Through your engagements, you will build a network of external customers (economists, clinicians, academics).
- You will work with the Director, PEMA, to understand, assess, and identify best HTA and health economic practices from other healthcare systems and developing plans on adapting these to the Canadian healthcare environment
- You will act as the project owner when working with vendors on health economic related projects.
Qualifications/Competencies
- A genuine interest in health economic evaluation methods, applications, and HTA.
- Advanced education in a numerate subject (e.g. health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, healthcare forecasting, management science).
- 2+ years of pharmaceutical industry or health-related/HTA experience involving reimbursement or health policy, or similar agency/government experience.
- Practical experience with HTA, cost-effectiveness models, systematic reviews, network meta-analysis, survival/statistical analyses, budget impact models.
- A detailed understanding of payer evidence requirements (HRQoL studies, costing studies, SLRs, ITCs NMAs, retrospective database analyses, prospective physician or patient epidemiological studies) and applications of payer evidence.
- A strong understanding and genuine interest of healthcare systems and reimbursement processes (both in Canada and abroad)

- A high level of initiative, sense of urgency, and ability to lead multiple priorities of significant scope in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinking to objectively appraise evidence with detailed, analytical skills in reviewing pharmacoeconomic submission materials
- Strategically agile with the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources to inform and formulate strategies and initiatives
- As the future oncology business rapidly changes, this role requires learning flexibility and working with ambiguity is vital
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional and global teams with excellent communication and project management skills
