In vitro Scientist in Early Oncology

Gaithersburg, MD

Join our dynamic Tumor Targeted Delivery (TTD) Discovery Immunohistochemistry team in Gaithersburg, MD as an In vitro Scientist. This role is perfect for a highly motivated and organized scientist with a background in lab systems management and tissue culture biology or related field. You will be the bridge between the department and the human biological sample (HBS) Biobank, ensuring we meet current regulatory and compliance guidance. Your work will involve organizing HBS samples for pre-clinical research and educating researchers about best sample handling practices.

Accountabilities:

As an In vitro Scientist, you will handle the administrative and regulatory duties of HBS inventory and compliance. This includes managing our TTD Oncology wide HBS inventories for accuracies, running internal audits in addition to QA sponsored yearly audit and the transitioning of Oncology to a LIMS inventory system. You will also become the departmental lead consultant to TTD managers for electronic notebook compliance, as well as the lead TTD Gaithersburg Lab Safety Representative. Your laboratory benchwork contributions will focus on supporting the IHC team with routine FFPE sample creation and histology slide sectioning and cataloging.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's of science in Biology or other related scientific discipline with 2-4 yrs. relevant scientific experience or Master's of science and 2-5 yrs relevant scientific experience.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory information management systems such as LIMS, ABBA or FreezerPro for maintenance of research inventories.
  • Experience in the creation and maintenance of large human sample inventories and data spreadsheets.
  • Has worked with human biological samples for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Experience with electronic notebook documentation of experimental work needed.
  • In lab experience (2+ years) of basic tissue culture methods and maintenance.
  • Experience with cell-based assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, and/or western blotting is desired.
  • Works independently, assesses, and reports data in a clear and concise manner, with a clear understanding of its implications within the overall context of drug discovery.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills together with evidence of delivery in a team-oriented, cross functional collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • MS desired but not required. Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred but not essential.
