Accountabilities
- Support the Head of Corporate Affairs and co-own the relationships with stakeholders such as government officials and foreign embassies, while playing a supporting role in interactions with key external government contacts
- Build external networks with relevant stakeholders (local, regional, national level) to better manage the impact institutions and their policies will have on the AstraZeneca brand and indication areas
- Develop and implement above-brand national policy shaping strategies and plans integrated with the R&I, V&I, CVRM, and Oncology therapy area policy plans
- Work closely with the Communications and Patient Engagement Manager, brand managers (and other colleagues) in understanding how public policy changes (transforming healthcare initiatives) can affect their brand strategies
- Participate in internal networks with the aim of sharing best practices and important information in the policy transforming healthcare area
- Identify, analyse, and act on emerging changes and issues in the external health environment, including competitive landscape and impact of government health policies on AstraZeneca
- Develop and implement strategies and innovative approaches to guide interactions with the government, industry, and healthcare partners that will drive optimal access for AstraZeneca at therapeutic areas level
- Support Government Affairs/policy projects to maximize the efficiency of interactions with regulatory bodies and government officials related to our therapeutic areas priorities
- Prepare briefs and other documents for the organization, aimed at influencing government and regulatory developments and channels these through a network of public sector contacts
- Actively participate in industry-level policies shaping projects and interactions with government and healthcare partners
- The role may involve taking on communication responsibilities for a therapy area, as needed, based on business requirements
Essential Skills/Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field (policy advisor/parliamentary assistant/PR agency role)
- A third-level qualification in public affairs, public relations, communications or related field
- Experience within pharmaceutical industry is preferred
- In-depth understanding of Ireland’s health environment
- Policy experience in the area of healthcare
- Excellent communication skills, strong oral/written presentation skills
- Strong in written and verbal communication
- Strategic and analytical capabilities
- Negotiation and influencing skills
- Excellent collaborator; good ability to create internal and external relations and ability to work cross-functional
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Current or previous formal education in political science, public relations, public affairs or political communications
