The Global Meetings and Events (GME) team, part of the Global Business Services (GBS) organization, is responsible for delivering best-in-class events for AstraZeneca. As a GME ‘Global Meetings and Events Associate – Congress’, you will support the delivery of top-notch face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual Congress planning services. This role reports to a Global Congress Director.

Accountabilities:
In this role, you will support planning and execution of congresses by collaborating with relevant business owners, stakeholders, Associations, external and in-house partners. You will be responsible for operational planning tasks such as site visits, virtual platform management, supplier recommendations, contract negotiations, budgets, creation and ownership of project plans, supporting project team calls, attendee logistics oversight and on-site support. You will also provide project coordination and operational support of exhibition booth, symposia, sponsorship, housing and budget management where allocated. 

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Experience coordinating or supporting global meetings activity, ideally Congresses
- Demonstrated financial/budget proficiency
- Project Management skills
- Compliance mindset with strong focus on adherence to industry guidelines, company policies and financial transparency
- Proven ability to be resourceful in approach to problem solving
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
- Ability to deliver and remain resilient within a fast-paced, dynamic, changing environment
- Flexibility (hybrid model, 3 days per week in the office)
- Willingness to travel globally (including weekends) – approx. 20-30%

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- History of working successfully with 3rd party partners/suppliers
- Experience in congress management
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical congress industry, codes and practices
- Experience with virtual and/or hybrid events
- Event industry qualifications (e.g. CMM, CME)
- Knowledge of global Pharmaceutical market
- Understanding of external stakeholders including physicians, payers and patients
- Cvent platform experience, or similar
