About the role


Join our dynamic team as a Contract Operations Manager, a key role within the Global Business Services (GBS) business unit. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team, where we are actively building a group of skilled professionals to drive our business forward.

You will be responsible for developing and leading the Engagement Specialists and Analysts, establishing partnerships with respective business areas, and ensuring due diligence and understanding of incoming new partnerships. This role is an opportunity to contribute to the design, launch, and management of the External Expert Contracting governance and operating model. You will work closely with various teams to build a business area level network to drive adoption of and adherence to the global governance and operating platform. 

Accountabilities


As a Contract Operations Manager, you will review and ensure the completeness of incoming External Expert/Patient engagement applications and requests. You will coordinate the triaging of these requests to the appropriate reviewer and business area, providing mentorship to guarantee the acquisition and retention of vital approvals. Your role will involve ensuring that the organization does not engage with individuals or entities that are debarred, excluded, or restricted for any reason. You will also be responsible for ensuring the timely receipt of executed letters of agreement (LOA) and contracts, adhering to service level agreements before the program start date. 

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field
- Experience in the biopharmaceutical, medical education, contributions or employee profession
- Customer relationship management experience
- Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of data with recommendations that support the E3S strategic vision
- Knowledge of contracting and engaging with EEs
- Knowledge of project management principles, ability to understand complex process with solutions oriented approach to simplify
- Collaborative management style, responsive, considerate, flexible, and personable
- Experience in developing and leading individuals, teams and customer relationships
- Strong leadership skills, including influencing without authority
- Budget management experience
- Strong, effective and interactive communications skills within and outside of the team
- Knowledge and understanding of AstraZeneca policies and guidelines
- Willingness to travel based on proximity to business area customers and GBS locations
- Proficient demonstration of cultural sensitivity

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Extensive customer relationship management or business development experience
- Significant experience in the pharmaceutical, medical education, contributions or employee profession
- Prior experience in commercial (Marketing, Sales, Operations), scientific or regulatory areas such as Medical Education, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development & Regulatory Affairs.
- Knowledge of external regulations and guidelines that govern EE engagements (for example, PhRMA, FDA/OIG, Global/Country Specific Compliance Guidelines)
- In-depth knowledge of AstraZeneca’s operations, processes, and systems
