Job Title: Associate Director - Enterprise Data Architecture

Introduction to Role:

Join our Enterprise Architecture Team, a key player in AstraZeneca's mission to leverage technology to impact patients and ultimately save lives. We are responsible for enterprise strategy and standards in Data and Data Search, working closely with data delivery teams across Business Technology Group (BTG) IT teams and data governance teams SET Area (Line of Business) Data Offices (SEDO). We are currently seeking a Data search Enterprise Architect to help us design and implement scalable and efficient search solutions for our data products.

Accountabilities:

As an Associate Director, you will design and develop search architectures, algorithms, and frameworks for data products. You will optimize search performance, relevance, and accuracy, implement and test search solutions using various technologies and tools. You will also monitor and troubleshoot search issues and anomalies, research and evaluate new search technologies and trends, document and communicate search best practices and standards. You will also be responsible for integrating new systems and functions like security, performance, scalability, reliability, and data recovery.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent number of years of experience in a Computer Science or Data Management related field.

  • Experience in framing and delivering enterprise search data architecture/master and reference data management architectural thinking, and its practical application.

  • Experience in the use of conceptual and logical data search modelling technologies.

  • Experience in defining and working with Enterprise and data search regulatory governances.

  • The role holder will possess a blend of data search architecture /data design, analysis, and search engineering skills.

  • Experience in known industry IT architectural patterns and IT architecture ways of working/methodologies.

  • Understands data search Platforms concepts and cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environments.

  • Understanding the appropriate data search structure and technology based on business use case and completely familiar with data lifecycles.

  • Data search visualization, data search migration and data search modelling.

  • Relational database management systems

  • DBMS software, including SQL Server

  • Database and cloud computing design, architectures, and data lakes.

  • Hadoop technologies like Pig, Hive and MapReduce.

  • Agile methodologies and enterprise resource planning implementation.

  • Machine learning, predictive modelling, and natural language processing.

  • Data mining and modelling tools.

  • Experience in a data search architect role with practical examples of designing and providing data engineering/architectural blueprints that have been implemented.

  • Experience in Agile data definition scrums.

  • Experience in the use of tooling, e.g. metadata cataloguing tools, data modelling tools, EA tools.

  • Understanding of, or familiarity with, Data Mesh approaches (as distinct from Data Fabric or Data Platform).

  • Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#

  • Experience with search platforms and frameworks such as Sinequa Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, or Vespa

  • Programming languages, including Java, Python and C/C++, as well as unified modelling language.

  • Application server software as well as backup and archival software.

  • Systems development lifecycle and project management.

  • Data management and reporting technologies, predictive analytics, data visualization and unstructured data.

  • Applied mathematics and statistics.
