The Axial Programme will be powered by S/4HANA a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system which will be implemented right across the organisation and will provide our business with standardised processes, enhanced financial management, common data and real time reporting, transforming the way we work through our entire supply chain - from bench to patient.
The new system will be used by more than 20,000 employees daily, is foundational to all AZ entities and is central to most core business processes. This is a once in a generation programme for AstraZeneca and will shape our ways of working globally for many years to come.

What you’ll do
The Axial Non-Functional Test Manger will perform a key role in oversight of Non-Functional testing across multiple integrated systems and deployments as multiple SAP ERP instances move towards a Global S/4HANA platform. The Non-Functional Test Manager will work closely with the Axial Technology Test Capability to ensure Non-Functional Test works within existing procedures and Axial Test strategies and Approaches. Responsibilities of the Non-Functional Test Manager will be:
- Production of Non-Functional Test Plans for each Deployment.
- Define a common approach and toolset for the Non-Functional testing within each Deployment.
- Define Test Scope for the Non-Functional Test Phases Performance Test and Operational Acceptance Test (OAT).
- Estimate test effort and team organisation for Non-Functional Test.
- Alignment of Non-Functional Test Plans with Axial Test Strategies, Test Approaches and Deployment Test Approaches.
- Define Test Procedures across Performance Test tools and Test Management tools, such as Solution Manager and Jira.
- Define Performance Test Scenarios and schedule Non-Functional Tests.
- Work with AZ Capabilities and partners to secure test resources against the Test Execution Plans and Schedules, including infrastructure support for system monitoring.
- Work with AZ Capabilities and Service organisations to plan and co-ordinate a DR exercise.
- Manage Non-Functional risks and issues. Communicate dependencies.
- Produce Non-Functional test execution metrics to track progress against plan and take corrective action to maintain plans.
- Produce Non-Functional Test Closure Reports and obtain their sign off.
- Work with other members of the Axial programme to communicate Non Functional test entry criteria and determine readiness to start a Non Functional Test Phase.
- Work with AZ quality and compliance teams to ensure all test activities follow AZ standards and procedures. Work within Defect Management procedures.
- Work in a globally distributed team to coach and mentoring more junior members of the team.
- Promote a culture of team collaboration and innovation, keeping up to date with IT architecture.
- Be an advocate for change, helping key stakeholders to understand and adopt new approaches to testing.
- Clarify Non-Functional Requirements with stakeholders and manage expectations against those requirements. Ensure coverage of Non-Functional requirements and assess the level of risk and mitigating actions for untested Requirements.
- Coordinate with Security and Infrastructure teams to ensure coverage against requirements of a security nature, such as preventing unauthorised access to system data.
- Work with local deployment teams to assess network latency in local area networks (LAN’s).
- Work with data teams to ensure volumes of data are sufficient, using test tools to create any additional data volume required.
Essential for the role
- Extensive experience in managing testing across the Test Delivery Lifecycle and Non-Functional Test.
- Extensive experience managing testing within a regulatory (GXP, SoX) domain.
- Extensive experience in managing testing across multiple projects concurrently.
- Extensive experience of Test Delivery adopting Agile, Waterfall and hybrid methodologies.
- Extensive experience of Performance test management tools, such as LoadRunner, NeoLoad, etc.
- Experience in using Test Management tools, such as Solution Manager and Jira.
- Experience of both on premise load generations tools, such as Apache JMeter, and cloud-based tools, such as LoadView, AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Load Testing, etc.
- Experience of matrix management of large global teams, from both internal and external partners.
- Experience in the life sciences, healthcare, FMCG or pharmaceutical industries.
- Understanding of IT architecture, including Cloud architecture.
- Understanding of Computer System Validation (CSV).
- Understanding of Risk Based Testing.
- Exposure to Continuous Integration architecture and tools, such as GITHub and Jenkins.
- Exposure to Service Management and tools used for system monitoring of Production systems in both on premise and Cloud architecture.
- Exposure to Test Environments Management and Data migration.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication experience, up to Director level.
