Sr. Director, National Channel Accounts
Are you ready to lead a diverse team and shape the future of healthcare access? As the National Channel Senior Director, you'll spearhead a team of National Account Directors, crafting and driving strategies that bring value to AstraZeneca, our customers, and patients. You'll be responsible for key account segments such as wholesalers, specialty distributors, retail pharmacy chains, and retail-mail order pharmacies. Your mission is to ensure product access aligns with brand strategy across AstraZeneca's diverse portfolio, including Cardiovascular Renal Metabolic, Respiratory & Immunology, Oncology, and Mature Brands.
Accountabilities
- Hire, develop, and lead a National Account team.
- Engage with internal resources to address account-specific challenges.
- Influence internal organization and customers.
- Lead performance and skill development for direct reports.
- Build strong relationships with C-Suite and senior management at customer organizations.
- Inform launch planning and distribution strategies with channel insights.
- Lead negotiations and run project implementation to support brand strategies.
- Ensure performance metrics are included in account plans and reported across the organization.
- Develop critical business relationships to influence high-level decision-makers.
- Present, negotiate, and implement performance contracts with trade channel customers.
- Carry out contract terms and analyze performance for issue management.
- Present clinical information supporting AZ brand utilization.
- Drive business development opportunities with national scope accounts.
- Provide strategic input to internal partners on national account segments.
- Monitor pricing regulations and reimbursement policies.
- Analyze alternative trade classes for AZ products to increase opportunities.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
- Represent AZ at key conferences impacting customer relationships.
- Maintain knowledge of payer environments including PBM and payer-owned pharmacies.
- Conduct business in accordance with AZ Code of Conduct.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years commercial experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals/biotech
- Prior experience leading a team and managing performance and development of direct reports
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong business partnerships and influence leaders in senior management within National Accounts
- High levels of understanding of the entire national account segment/channels including payor, trade distribution network, and specialty pharmacy providers
- Sales, sales leadership, field reimbursement and regional account experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Overnight travel of 50% may be required
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Advanced business or science degree
- National Trade, Distribution, Retail, Payer, and Specialty Account management experience
- Previous experience working with the drug distribution networks and other targeted national account segments/channel
- Managed Care/Market Access experience
The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $219,544 to $329,317. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an offer of employment is received.
