Site Reliability Engineer
Introduction to the Role
Are you ready to drive innovation and lead the charge in Enterprise Edge and Private/Hybrid Cloud technologies? As a Site Reliability Engineer at AstraZeneca, you'll ensure our technical solutions align with defined reference architecture and technology standards. You'll have a key role in planning, crafting architecture standards, roadmaps, and blueprints for Edge, Hybrid Cloud, and Technical Domains. Your expertise will guide operational, system development, and integration projects, ensuring consistent implementation of architecture decisions. With a strong DevOps background and skills in Infrastructure as Code, you'll design, develop, and deliver Enterprise Edge-based solutions using automation to build environments and deploy services seamlessly.
Accountabilities
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be accountable for driving enterprise thinking and solution design in the Enterprise Edge automation capability. You'll support consultancy efforts in other domains, maintain current knowledge of industry developments in Edge data management technologies, and lead the development of technology roadmaps and strategies. You'll author and review solution blueprints, collaborate with various functions to manage requirements, and ensure resilient solution architectures. Partnering with Enterprise Architects and other team members, you'll build solutions aligned with AstraZeneca's architecture standards. You'll evaluate solutions, support project teams with technical expertise, ensure compliance with guidelines, and contribute to the development of architectural components.
Essential Skills/Experience
Relevant technical degree or equivalent.
Proven development/design experience in at least one infrastructure technical domain.
Detailed knowledge of Enterprise Services Platform (Automation, Morpheus, PowerApps) and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, Perl, PowerShell, etc.) and how these can be applied to solve business problems.
Experience in developing innovative solutions, blueprints, and standards for solution design.
Experience implementing and maintaining business solution architectures under any formal framework within your domain of architecture.
Experience in developing and managing relationships with third-party suppliers.
Knowledge and awareness of public and private clouds.
Demonstrable ability to lead Proof of Concepts and Proof of Value activities through to pilot stage where appropriate.
Experience developing Infrastructure as Code solutions and platform automation skills.
Strong networking skills with good internal and external links and open-source/community awareness.
Well-developed communication and facilitation skills.
Ability to interpret and communicate technical information in business language.
Awareness and ability to follow Agile practices, associated ceremonies, and processes.
Awareness of developments in the Enterprise Edge and understanding of its potential impact on AZ IS.
Core skills (or equivalent) to include a majority of the following: scripting, programming, CI/CD, Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, Morpheus, Linux, Windows, Storage & Backup, Configuration Management (Ansible, Chef), Infrastructure as Code, Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, Logging (EFK, ELK, Splunk), AI & ML techniques.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Demonstrates initiative, strong customer orientation, and experience in cross-cultural collaboration.
Experience in developing or maturing an architectural practice.
Development knowledge and experience with scripting or programming languages.
Proven business insight.
Understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry and of competitor activity in architecture and information management.
Ability to work well in diverse, multinational teams and demonstrable ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes.
Understanding of IT sustainability goals.
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), databases (predominantly open source), and Dynatrace.
