Job Description
This role operates within well-established guidelines, with accessible higher-level support as needed. As a Leave Specialist, operating within GBS People Services, you will be responsible for administrative tasks (e.g., company benefits administration) in support of all leaves of absence requested within the US. Your work may include project research under the direction of more senior colleagues. Your focus will primarily be on federal, state, and company leave administration for employees in the US.
Accountabilities
- Employee Support: Guide employees and managers through the leave process, offering dedicated assistance and clarification.
- Data Management: Maintain and update leave records and timesheets in Workday for both salaried/exempt and hourly/non-exempt employees.
- Escalation Management: Serve as a point of escalation for the My HR Advisory Team on complex leave issues from employees, managers, HR Partners, and Employee Relations Partners.
- Liaison Duties: Collaborate with the leave and disability vendor to resolve sophisticated employee leave cases optimally.
- Policy Expertise: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the federal FMLA, as well as state and local leave mandates. Clearly explain company leave policies to employees and managers, ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Audit Conduct: Perform audits to verify return-to-work details, leave exhaustion, disability-related employment actions, time entry, and coordination of salary continuation payments relevant to Workers' Compensation and various state paid family and medical leave programs.
- Teamwork: Work closely with payroll and other HR COE teams to address sophisticated leave of absence queries.
- Informational Requests: Respond to ad hoc information requests from internal teams and external vendors.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in leave of absence administration, ideally in an outsourced model.
- HR Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years in Human Resources.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using web-based software programs and Microsoft Office products.
- Communication Skills: Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: Highly meticulous with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service.
Desirable
- Preferred Knowledge: Functional knowledge of Workday and ServiceNow preferred.
