Join a world-leading pharmaceutical company headquartered in the United Kingdom, as an Associate Engineer within our IT Operations team. This role is part of a large infrastructure support and maintenance function that extends across several continents. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Windows, Virtual, and Cloud Infrastructure operations and will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor system alerts and handle service requests efficiently.
- Diagnose and address P3 & P4 end-user incidents, escalating complex P1 & P2 incidents when necessary.
- Manage incident queues and create/update known error documentation.
- Implement change requests and manage standard operational changes (e.g., server builds, data requests).
- Ensure system uptime and performance through effective monitoring, maintenance, and patch management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
Windows Operating Systems:
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Server and Desktop environments.
- Knowledge of key Windows Server features like Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Basic Networking:
- Understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, and TCP/IP protocols.
System Maintenance:
- Capability to perform system performance monitoring and maintenance.
- Experience with regular system updates.
User Management:
- Familiarity with Active Directory for managing user accounts and permissions.
Backup and Recovery:
- Understanding of data backup solutions and recovery processes.
Patching and Updates:
- Proficiency in applying and managing patches and updates.
Technical Support:
- Ability to provide end-user support and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
Desirable:
PowerShell Scripting:
- Knowledge for automating tasks and administrative processes.
Virtualization:
- Exposure to VMware or Hyper-V environments.
Security Practices:
- Understanding Windows security best practices.
Cloud Services:
- Familiarity with platforms like Microsoft Azure or AWS.
Citrix:
- Experience with Virtual Apps and Desktops.
Tanium:
- Knowledge of endpoint management and security.
Certifications:
- Interest in certifications like Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, CompTIA Server+, or ITIL 3.0.
