Global Financial Services (GFS) was formed in Q3 2018 through the merger of Global Finance Operations, Integrated Finance Solutions and Cash Generation.  GFS is at the heart of the Finance function - accountable to the AstraZeneca (AZ) Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes that enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.  

The creation of the Global Financial Services (GFS) centers in Warsaw (Poland), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and San José (Costa Rica) transformed the AZ Middle Office to a central function, supporting the business regions through simplification, standardization across the globe, and a structure that is scalable to support the AZ bold ambition.

We have exciting opportunities to join our GFS Center in San José, which will establish best practices and be responsible for providing support to embedded finance and internal sub teams.

Role Profile

We are looking for a Systems Analyst responsible for R2R to be part of a global team of Finance Systems Super Users, serving the different AstraZeneca regions.


This role sits within the GFS Technology, that drives the systems maintenance delivery and oversight data change approval process for Single Chart of Accounts updates and amendments.

GFS Technology team was formed in 2023 to centralize support for GFS owned systems with a mandate to enable effective utilization of technology and embed best practice. Key to this is effective business support for systems and ensuring we maximize the return on AZ investment in GFS systems.  GFS Systems Delivery sits within GFS Technology and consists of 3 teams supporting R2R, P2P and O2C applications. 

The R2R technical support team provides business administrator care for Blackline, Costar, and maintenance R2R settings in SAP (ASIA, EU, NAM and LATAM) working closely with stakeholders in R2R as well as colleagues within AZ IT. 

Through utilizing analytics, insights and leveraging the technology investments you will be a key player in driving the standardization agenda across R2R and will use your deep insight into the R2R processes to provide process expertise into global change initiatives and to identify, co-ordinate and deliver the continuous improvement agenda in order to stimulate process improvements and productivity across the systems used by R2R.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Expert advice and assistance to users of our systems portfolio (SAP, BlackLine) to maximize business value
  • Provide guidance and support to projects which require or supply data to R2R systems
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement of process and data.
  • Provide support for GFS users with complex requirements and issues.
  • Provide clear communications to business users on issues impacting service availability
  • Solve complex problems through data analysis, often against time pressure
  • Ensure data quality is reviewed and improved i.e. dealing with data queries in respect of transactional data.
  • Investigate opportunities to standardize and simplify and ensure new processes are adhered to on an ongoing basis.
  • Change requests and Blackline upgrades review, user access management, master data changes and incident triage.
  • Enable change within GFS systems to agreed quality standards.
  • BlackLine Local and Business Admin role, selected SAP transactions (Sets, Z-tables, SAP ad hoc BlackLine extracts, manual clearing or clearing reset in SAP for TM exceptions - Accord for Asia, matching engine amendments, etc.)

Essential for the role

  • Very good knowledge of finance systems
  • Good R2R process knowledge
  • Experience of working as a system super user or admin
  • Experience in a global organization
  • Overall working experience in a comparable role within R2R
  • Experience working in industry/consultancy
  • Experience in Finance Business Process
  • High level SAP & Excel skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with SAP and/or BlackLine as a super user
  • Understanding of SOx and internal controls/Experience in a SOx compliant environment
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • O2C process knowledge

Other Role Requirements

  • Schedule flexibility to work on holidays when necessary.
  • Flexibility and Ability to travel and work in another AZ facilities outside the country when necessary.
  • Schedule flexibility to work on the days off given by the wellness Policy when necessary (Política de Bienestar).

The GFS function will interface with the Back-Office areas, Embedded Finance (CFOs and Country Business Partners), LATAM and NAM Area Finance, other GFS teams and 3rd party functions.
