1. MISSION
The Healthcare Innovation Team designs projects and initiatives to address unmet needs within the healthcare system and alleviate pain points in the patient journey to Transform Care. These often involve optimizing diagnosis processes, care pathways, or patient monitoring and chronic disease management.
The Healthcare Innovation and Patient Pathway Optimization Specialist (HCI Specialist) supports the strategy definition and execution of healthcare innovation projects that contribute to the Therapeutic Area (TA) strategic and tactical plans, aligning with Transforming Care priorities.
A holistic view of the needs across therapeutic areas and market access, combined with a deep understanding of pathologies and patient journeys, is essential. The HCI Specialistwill contribute by assisting in project coordination, conducting initial research, and supporting the development of business cases for innovative solutions.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES

1. TA Business Partner
- Assist in the engagement with the Brand Teams of the TA under scope.
- Support the understanding and mapping of patient journey pain points and challenges.
- Monitor and track innovative solutions and projects related to Transforming Care initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of value-based projects that address healthcare ecosystem needs.
- Assist in ensuring that health information systems are properly integrated into innovative solutions
- Engage regularly with the field implementors, the “Healthcare Innovation Partners” to feed in leads on Transforming Care projects, under the “One Innovation team” philosophy and to monitor and supervise deployment
2. Transforming Care Solutions Design
- Support the ideation and research of Innovative Solutions addressing key healthcare challenges.
- Assist in the development of Business Cases to demonstrate the expected value and impact of solutions.
- Contribute to prioritization discussions within the Brand Team for innovative solutions.
- Provide support for the assessment of initiatives to be included in Tactical Plans
3. Innovation Strategy & Partnerships
- Assist in gathering insights to support TA teams in the development of next-generation healthcare solutions.
- Serve as SPOC of the Business Unit with the innovation partners and start-ups during the ideation and design process of Innovative Solutions.
- Attend to Innovation events and the Scientific Summits related to the TA to scout potential solutions and trends, representing AZ innovation values and strategy.
4. Piloting and coordination of project delivery and follow-up
- Assist in the coordination for the implementation of adjacent & transformational projects of his/her TA, assuring time and budget compliance (scale up is performed with the Healthcare Innovation Partner)
- Ensure consistent, quality and maximum value delivery and no duplication of efforts
- Measure project performance feeding projects’ key indicators for follow up and evaluation of results
- Provide periodic executive reports to Project Sponsors, identifying potential project blocks and red flags
- Participate in AZ project follow-up sessions to present key achievements
- Assist in applying Project Management methodology to ensure pilot optimization
5. Compliance
- Guarantee that all activities related to the job comply with applicable external and internal regulations (policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and code of conduct).
3. PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Excellent level of spoken and written English (level C1).
- 2-3 years of experience in consulting, market research, business intelligence, insights, or a similar role.
- Experience in managing strategic projects related to healthcare. It is not a mandatory requirement to have experience in the biomedical industry.
- Strong analytical and organizational skill
- Excellent collaboration capacity with internal and external ecosystems.
- Familiar with Healthcare Transformation initiatives in the public sector or the industry.
- Teamwork excellent capabilities and skills.
- Project management skills.
Desirable
- Postgraduate studies (MBA, Master Innovation/Transformation, Master Public Health, Master Health information systems, Master Design Thinking or other related fields)
- Experience in assisting with the design or implementation of Innovative Solutions for the HC system
- Basic knowledge of healthcare information systems and digital health platforms.
- Exposure to Data Analysis and business intelligence tools
- Experience in working in multi-skilled, multi-location data teams, working to agile principles.
- Experience in life sciences and healthcare
- Experience in a complex global organization
- Deep knowledge of the health ecosystem innovation drivers
- Updated with the latest trends and best practices in business innovation
- Familiar with innovation methodologies: Agile, Service Design, UI/UX practices…
- Understanding of Digital Technologies: IoT, Big Data, AI, Blockchain, etc.
