Associate Director, Hematology Franchise Project Management

Seeking a candidate to manage projects in the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) within OBU Global Medical Affairs (GMA). This includes interfacing at a franchise level with cross-functional teams across OBU. The role encompasses project oversight, budget management, change management, and cross-functional coordination with other franchise medical teams. Reporting directly to a Medical Affairs Innovation, Strategy, & Operations (MIST) Tumor Portfolio Director (TPD), this role will work closely with the GMA Hematology Franchise Head and leadership team. The position is based in Mississauga, Canada.

The ideal candidate will work effectively with other project and medical leaders to develop integrated plans that can be delivered globally and across cross-functional boundaries. Displaying critical thinking and the capability to cooperate and make decisive decisions to assist in achieving the overall objectives of OBU GMA is crucial.

Accountabilities

  • Acts as a thought partner to the Hematology Franchise Head and leadership team
  • Supports the Franchise Head in completing the portfolio tumor strategy collaboratively across indications and optimizes global and local interfaces for completion
  • Facilitates overall budget and strategic workforce planning across the functional groups including forecasting, phasing, and prioritization across the business planning cycle as well as rollup into Long Range Plans (LRPs)
  • Tasked with coordinating key franchise team deliverables, including Medical Plans, Evidence Generation plans, Study proposals, launch plans, Congress plans, and Scientific exchange plans. Works with franchise teams and across GMA to ensure efficient, high-quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Facilitates Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) Review committee meetings for timely review and decisions on proposals
  • Creates and maintains project deliverables dashboard for portfolio progress against scorecard objectives
  • Ensures efficient functioning of the Medical Implementation Teams (MITs) and ensures connectivity with Integrated Business Teams (IBTs)
  • Accountable for implementation of medical standards to ensure compliant functioning of the organization
  • Facilitates impactful meetings with leadership and indication teams, contributes strategic input on agendas, and monitors decisions and actions for team progress tracking.
  • Drives External Engagement Planning and execution, including congress planning oversight and tactical execution
  • Coordinates and assists in preparation for presentations on key topics/initiatives
  • Improves ongoing improvement in methods of operation, sharing and adopting standard methodologies to streamline and simplify business processes
  • Encourages a vibrant, entrepreneurial, and externally facing team focused on delivering successful projects and programs that support courageous leadership, innovation, and collaboration
  • Collaborates closely with other Project Leaders to integrate standard methodologies

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in business or life science.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry or regulated medical products industry
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Medical Affairs, Commercial, and R&D organizations (Global, regional, or local)
  • Demonstrated project management experience in a matrix environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the development and commercialization of pharmaceutical products
  • Experience of successful influencing cross-functionally, cross-culturally, and cross-brands
  • Experience of effective working in a multi-cultural, matrixed environment
  • Experience working in a global setting, managing stakeholders across different time zones
  • Experience preparing and/or delivering presentations to executive leadership
  • Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • MBA / Ph.D. desired.
  • Graduate level degree in sciences or business degree
  • Six Sigma Medical/Process Excellence and/or Project Management/PMP/FPX certification is a plus but not required
  • Depth of understanding of medical, scientific, and/or commercial pharmaceutical marketplace of Oncology is a plus
