Senior director, Supply Chain, Head of International Fulfilment
This is a pivotal role within the Global Supply Chain & Strategy and International Supply Chain teams at Alexion. This position is responsible for ensuring full transparency and efficiency from customer demand to final delivery across the International, Shared Markets, and Japan regions. Additionally, this role oversees shipping and cold chain operations throughout the Alexion network. This role will have direct responsibility for customer operational engagement, 3PL vendor management, budget accountability within the International & Japan (E2E Supply Chain) region, shipping & cold chain. This position is key to maintaining operational excellence and delivering strong value to Alexion's RDU stakeholders.
Accountabilities
• Leadership & Strategy: Provide strong leadership and development for the International, Japan, Shared Markets, and Shipping & Distribution Operations Team. Collaborate with the VP Global Supply Chain & Strategy in setting and meeting both short- and long-term strategic objectives.
• Budget & Performance Management: Assume full accountability for the 3PL and final mile budget. Drive performance in 3PL, distribution, and shipping operations, ensuring they meet or exceed expectations.
• Process Alignment & Improvement: Support and enhance processes related to International, Japan, and Shared Markets operations, ensuring alignment with Network Strategy and Distribution & Shipping Operations.
• Shared Markets: Drive the Performance and ensuring strong value-add partnership with AZ. Ensuring customer sales orders execution, facilitate customer engagement, and support commercial stakeholders.
• Product Launch & Operational Excellence: Ensure successful product launches and market extensions through careful planning and execution. Provide guidance on complex shipments and oversee on-call activities for 24/7/365 country-wide coverage.
• Compliance & Quality: Ensure team compliance with internal audits and external regulations, partnering closely with product safety, compliance, regulatory, and quality functions to maintain cold chain integrity.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with internal teams such as market access, SALs, and FRMs, as well as case management and supply chain functions.
• Project & Business Planning: Formulate, communicate, and oversee tactical business plans. Lead the development and execution of detailed project plans for departmental and cross-functional initiatives.
• KPI Management: Partner with Global Supply Chain Operations to manage departmental KPIs and dashboard requirements.
• Employee Development & Growth: Champion employee development, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and manage ongoing requirements for departmental training.
Essential Skills/Experience
• Experience: +10 years in pharmaceuticals or healthcare, with expertise in Customer Operations, Trade Relations, Project Management, Shipping & Distribution, Change Management, or Operational Excellence.
• Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree preferred.
• Skills & Knowledge:
o Strong understanding of CRM tools and SAP advantageous.
o Proficiency in 3PL & Distribution supply chain models, including Cold Chain processes.
o Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
o Proven ability to manage complex, sensitive issues and work effectively in cross-functional environments.
• Experience with telephony systems and call management is beneficial.
