Director, Digital Innovation (Digital Channel Excellence)

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $180,875.20 - 271,312.80 USD annually. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The successful individual will be reporting directly to the Head of Medical Digital Innovation and will be accountable for driving the management and delivery of key Oncology Digital Medical Innovation initiatives across Digital Health. The role will workacross geographies, working closely with Global and Market cross-functional teams and external key stakeholders to drive drive strategies that maximize opportunities across AstraZeneca’s portfolio and patient outcomes.

Accountabilities

You will be surrounded by people who share your determination to improve and extend the lives of patients living with cancer.Accountabilities Fall into several key areas; 

Lead GMA Digital Strategy

  • Work collaboratively withTumour and Indication Medical leadership teams, regions, and other functions team to define, pioneer and drive digital strategies that maximize opportunities in AZ’s (digital) portfolio,across lifecycle

  • Serve as the dedicated point-of-contact for OBU GMA, business and associated digital agencies to enable seamless execution of strategy and lead execution of digital campaigns/tactics

Design and Deliver New Digital Solutions 

  • Work closely with Medical Affairs teams to identify key areas to focus design and co-createscalable digital solutions thatsupport the transformation of medical evidence and confidence activities for patients and HCPs

  • Maintain view of the competitive landscape and a broad perspective across AZ and pharma industry to identify and drive best practice around digital expertise

  • Ensure oversight, project management and delivery of major programme initiatives that link the strategic directives of Medical Digital Innovation

Evolve the Medical AffairsFunction

  • Drive the development of digital competencies to evolve the Medical Affairs model, meet the demands of the changing healthcare landscape, embedding a Digital First mindset and uptake of initiatives that support an innovation culture 

  • Identify long-term process needs of the medical team focused on digital capabilities and develop/execute a plan to address these.

  • Provide digital expertise into the ongoing evolution of customer model by working with business/medical leads on critical business priorities

Forge Internal/External Partnerships

  • Develop effective internal links with other AZ functions including Oncology R&D, IT, RCC,Commercial, Global Commercial Digital Innovation teams to maintain awareness of developments and seek opportunities to drive innovation and simplification.

  • Shape the external environment in support of digital innovation, working with experts, technology partners, and other stakeholdersto accelerate efforts .

  • Partner with other digital specialists to identify opportunities for synergies and collaboration across therapeutic areas / Franchises to drive platform re-use.

  • Develop themselves as a subject matter expert and one of the medical “faces” of AZ for Digital Innovation though engagement and collaborations with External Agencies, Professional Societies, Key External Experts, Healthcare Organizations and Consumers

Governance 

  • Accountable for project specific medical governance ensuring compliance with AZ SOPs, expectations and values.

  • Monitor project status and budget and provide regular reporting on progress, recommendations and estimates for digital tactical plan 

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientifically relevant discipline

Experience

  • Extensive hands-on digital expertise, or relevant consulting experience, with digital tactics and channels, specifically, digital health, data & analytics and omni-channel campaigns strongly preferred

  • Experience designing, building and owning end to end customer experiences dependent on complex corporate structures and multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience in a deploying and scaling technology programs across key markets, communicating and partnering with teams on a global scale 

  • Ability to collaborate with both technology developers, academic institutions, and other internal functions to ensure business needs are translated into easy to use and relevant applications

  • Experience of budgetary responsibility

  • Can develop and execute structured project plans to a high standard

  • Manages projects in an independent and effective way

  • Open-minded and motivated by cross-culture and cross-geographical team working

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with experience managing strong customer demand from competing priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information to develop recommendations, and ability to persuade/influence organization pursuit of recommended path


Desirable:

  • PhD, PharmD or professional qualification (MD or equivalent)

  • Clinical and / or academic research background

  • Experience within within a pharmaceutical or life sciences organization specializing in oncology,Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Digital Health, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals or Consumer Healthcare

  • Established network of digital health technology innovators
