Associate Director, Portfolio Analytics

Our Portfolio Analytics and Reporting team, Global Portfolio and Project Management (GPPM) is responsible for developing analyses to uncover opportunities and support R&D portfolio decisions across Therapeutic Areas and the Enterprise.

Accountabilities

We are seeking a curious and dynamic individual to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data analysis to extract strategic insights, supporting senior leaders making data-driven decisions in our R&D portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Analysis: Lead specialised analyses of our R&D portfolio. Conduct primary research, integrate data from a wide range of internal and external sources, to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to maximise portfolio performance

  • Strategic Insights: Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management based on portfolio analytics to support investment decisions, resource allocation, and project prioritisation

  • Data Management: Develop and maintain robust data to ensure data integrity and availability for portfolio analysis. Collaborate with Data and Systems teams to enhance data infrastructure

  • Reporting and Visualization: Create and present high-quality reports and data visualisations to convey complex portfolio insights clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, Finance, Commercial, and other key functions to align portfolio strategies with business goals. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams

  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Proactively find opportunities to improve the productivity and quality of our team’s work.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to bring ideas into reality. Stay abreast of industry trends, regularly shares best practices to drive enhancement initiatives

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Data Science, Biological Sciences or Chemistry

  • Experience: Demonstrated ability in portfolio management, financial analysis, or a similar role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, PowerBI) and experience with data visualization and business intelligence

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable business insights

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create concise and compelling presentation, to influence senior management and other stakeholders

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Education: PhD in Biological Sciences or Chemistry, or MD

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in top Strategy Consulting companies for the Pharmaceutical industry

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in handling large datasets (e.g., SQL, Dataiku, Altryx, SAS, R, or Python)
