Global Access & Pricing Lead, IVS & Payer Partnerships

Alexion AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease GVAP team is seeking a qualified candidate to be part of a dynamic and growing team with responsibility for Innovative Value Strategies (IVS) and Payer Partnerships across the GVAP function.  This is a strategic role responsible for setting, developing  & executing the rare diseases IVS strategy, framework and process within GVAP and across countries. 

The GVAP IVS and payer partnership lead operates across all GVAP therapeutic areas. He/she acts as an innovative thought partner to the complement, Metabolic & early pipeline GVAP teams.

Additionally, he/she will lead initiatives in partnership with relevant GVAP TA leads, GHEOR and countries to propose and advance development and implementation of “market access solutions” as well as RD payer policies across the portfolio and markets.

You will be responsible for:establishing, developing and managing the Alexion Rare dieases IVS strategy, governnance & its execution within the GVAP function as well as across countries.

In close collaboration & alignment with global GVAP TA Access & Pricing Leads

  • building global TA assets IVS strategies-solutions and support implementation across the portfolio
  • Developing IVS options for Metabolics, Hematology, Nephrology, Transplant and Neurology indications in close collaboration with GVAP Access & Pricing Leads to address clinicial or financial uncertaintaines of our medicines

Collaborating with countries and relevant global cross functions (GHEOR, Medical)

  • building in market assets specific IVS strategies and supporting their implementation across geographies and the portfolio
  • Providing guidiance to local market access team on when and how to leverage IVS to address uncertainty to enable rapid and value-based access to our medicines

Leading the dedicated cross function Alexion Rare diseases IVS task force

Developing the global rare dieases IVS agreements library, proposing tracking mechanisms of IVS  stratgeies across markets and securing best practice sharing with countries across regions through training and relevant workshops

Defining & developing the RD IVS narrative for external engagement with payers, government officials and other key stakeholders to improve patient access to our medicines leveraging IVS.

  • Developing GVAP strategy position and clear engagement tools for countries and regional teams to leverage Innovative Value Strategies (IVS) to accelerate access and funding.

Building & supporting advancing execution of partnerhsips solutions with payers by developing, proposing and facilitating execution of IVS market access solutions to differentiate and establish RD funding pathway for Alexion assets

Serving as the primary external contact and the face for Alexion’s IVS strategy, he/she represents Alexion as the IVS Rare diseases lead in internal forums and in pan-EU & global trade associations. Additionally, the role will also lead initiatives in partnership with GHEOR and GAP to advance RD payer policies

Experience - You will need to have -

  • We are seeking a candidate with strong experience working with EU-international markets or at country level of developing & implementing market access strategies & initiatives
  • Experience constructing payer pricing negotiation solutions and implementing these into market access programs with confirmed examples of success
  • Prior rare disease or specialized drugs therapy area expertise.
  • Relevant drug development and/or commercialization experience within the pharmaceutical/medical industry.
  • Several years of previous project leadership experience in the generation of payer evidence or development/execution of payer commercial strategies (e.g. Health Economics, Market Access, Pricing).

We would prefer for you to have:capabilities & skills

  • Relevant Graduate degree e.g.  Health economics, PhD, PharmD, biomedical science, business, or economics.
  • In-depth authoritative knowledge and technical capability in rare diseases /oncology/ specialized drugs IVS & payer partnership matters
  • Ability to deal with complexity (Countries, portfolio, diseases) and relevant analytical, quantitative skills to develop creative economics solutions to foster succesful access and reimbursement across assets and diseases
  • Ability to take people with you and bring the best out of others
  • Excellence and precision in communication: credible and persuasive
  • ability to build and mobilise positive relationships and effectively collaborate internally with GVAP TA teams- markets and externally with payers
  • highly autonomous and an effective communicator with cultural sensitivity and engagement skills across the diversity of EU/international markets in scope
