Associate Director – Business Partner, Development - RDU R&D IT

This role is based in Barcelona, with an on-site commitment of three days a week. Fluency in English is required.

Are you ready to drive innovation in R&D Development IT? As an Associate Director, you'll be at the forefront of aligning IT and informatics strategies with R&D priorities. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of R&D IT, you'll partner with Alexion’s R&D Leadership to deliver cutting-edge IT and data solutions. Your role will involve creating a best-in-class architecture framework and strategy, ensuring our company stays ahead in the fast-evolving biotech landscape. With a unique blend of science, technology, and informatics, you'll manage projects that push boundaries and inspire change.

Accountabilities:
• Serve as key point of contact and IT business partner with R&D business areas
• Create a business partnership and ensure close cooperation between all functions and IT
• Develop and execute on plans for roadmaps for the information, data, and process needs of the business areas listed
• Serve as thought leader for R&D IT as it relates to technology and solutions to enable business processes
• Oversee the authoring of documentation such as requirements specifications, data models, test plans, and other SDLC deliverables
• Partner with IT and R&D leaders to clarify requirements and prepare appropriate project deliverables and requirements
• Drive the execution of IT projects in collaboration with suppliers, business partners, team and management
• Anticipate, understand and communicate the implications of technical decisions on the business, application, and project timelines and influence decisions accordingly
• Define, lead, and execute technical work, software integration, and data integration activities

Essential Skills/Experience:
• Undergraduate degree in computer science, information technology, business or related field
• Strong R&D business background with experience and partnering with R&D teams
• Proven track record of innovation utilizing technology, partners and teams tied to business outcomes
• Detail-oriented, self-starter and able to work both independently and in a team environment
• Experience managing technical resources and project teams
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Strong architectural and application development background
• Strong understanding of data models and architecture
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight timelines
• Understanding of PMI methodologies and project management experience
• Proven track-record of delivering scientific projects utilizing agile SDLC
• Excellent verbal communication skills

Desirable Skills/Experience:
• Advanced degree in information technology or information sciences, or specific sciences
• A minimum of 10 years working either in or near a biopharmaceutical IT and/or in the Data domains
