AstraZeneca is currently looking for a Software Engineering Technical Lead to join our global Science IT Software Engineering Team. This role requires someone that codes on a daily basis, is self-motivated, and has a passion for development. We’ll rely on you to bring your technical acumen to help the team continue to deliver world class solutions for both our employees and our external constituents such as patients and doctors. Among your responsibilities is to plan, architect, design, document and implement software solutions that enable AstraZeneca to discover and develop new innovative medicines.

In this role you will be part of our global development team which is migrating to as close as we can to a true DevOps operating model. You will be given requirements that you are expected to understand, plan, develop, and thoroughly test before considering the work completed. Deployments and infrastructure are handled by our team and you will need to be capable of doing deployments and preparing your work for the infrastructure requirements. As a Technical Leader within the team you are expected to thoroughly understand the Software Development Lifecycle and best practices that should allow you to help your fellow teammates.
We are building a team that is accountable and responsible for the work they deliver. This means that you will be expected to support your work after it has been released to our customers. We build it, we own it.
A Technical Leader is expected to have knowledge in developing, managing data, integrating with other systems, and learning new technology that enables the solution. It is not required that you have skills in all of the following technologies, but you may have to learn depending on the work you are given:
— Responsive Web / HTML5 / Twitter Bootstrap 4
— Jira / Confluence / Git
— MongoDB / Couchbase / Other NoSQL technologies
Extra points if you have skills on any of the following technologies:
— Spring Boot / Java
— AWS Technologies including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Route53, ELB, API Gateway, and others
— SCSS / CSS3
— Activiti / Camunda / Flowable / NodeRED
— SnapLogic / Mule
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent degree is preferred but not required. We will hire self-taught engineers without a formal education given that you have evidence of rich history of software engineering.
— Long history of enjoying problem solving and building things
— 7+ years of hands on software development experience
— 3+ of leadership responsibilities on software delivery projects
