AstraZeneca is looking for a senior technical engineer to work in an enterprise data platform service team.

Our data platforms are fundamental to enable AstraZeneca’s bold ambition to be the pioneers in science, leaders in our disease areas and transforming patient outcomes. We are looking for a Lead Engineer to drive the optimization, maturity and adoption of our Enterprise Snowflake Data Platform by the Business Technology Groups [BTGs].

IGNITE Enterprise Data Office (EDO) – Data & Information Availability Services (DIAS) is a central team leading Enterprise Data and engineering platforms and solutions. We look after enterprise technology platforms which enable AZ data engineers to solve data challenges.

What you’ll do

  • You will be one of the senior technical engineers in the Snowflake team who’ll understand what data engineers are looking to achieve, ensure appropriate platform design and configuration is implemented to allow engineers to efficiently use the service and its features

  • Mature the service by establishing connectivity to additional platforms, evaluate and enable new features,  establish new and optimize existing self-serve utilities

  • Assess, design and implement complex access control & data privacy requirements; ensure optimal approach is recommended that can drive efficiencies with infra costs through simplified design and governance

  • Automate and optimize Snowflake metadata management; reporting design and implementation of cost governance, operational and adoption metrics; CI / CD and test automation

As a senior platform engineer you must have deep technical skills and strong data platforms foundation and skills. You should apply if

  • You have designed, built and managed Snowflake or other similar data platforms and / or engineered business applications on one or more data platforms

  • You understand Cloud services and SaaS platforms architecture; differences between similar platforms and products and can assess Pros and Cons; Infrastructure management principles – Compute, Storage

  • You understand enterprise ways of working in a large organization with team and stakeholders spread across multiple global locations

  • You understand networking – VPNs; authentication – SSO, OAuth, Key Pair; authorization, access controls – role, policy, tag based

  • Can embrace and evangelize ‘Enterprise Ways of Working’, evangelize Snowflake as a technology within AZ Data, Visualization and AI community and you are enthused to ramp-up adoption for Service
