Snowflake Enterprise Data Management Platform Associate Director

AstraZeneca is looking for an Associate Director to work in an enterprise data platform service team.

Our data platforms are fundamental to enable AstraZeneca’s bold ambition to be the pioneers in science, leaders in our disease areas and transforming patient outcomes. We are looking for a Lead Engineer to drive the optimization, maturity and adoption of our Enterprise Snowflake Data Platform by the Business Technology Groups [BTGs].

IGNITE Enterprise Data Office (EDO) – Data & Information Availability Services (DIAS) is a central team leading Enterprise Data and engineering platforms and solutions. We look after enterprise technology platforms which enable AZ data engineers to solve data challenges

What you’ll do

  • Drive and evangelize strategy and vision for the Enterprise Snowflake service

  • Establish goals and objectives for the service; build plans for quarterly program increments

  • Manage stakeholders across multiple business domains and global locations; manage contracts and liaison with product vendor account managers and architects

  • Provide direction to team on service maturity and prioritization; champion hiring and coaching for the service team

  • Run Quarterly and Half-Yearly service reviews with capability leaders and business stakeholders; effectively manage cross tower and service dependencies, risks and mitigation plans

  • Manage and govern service utilization, service consumption estimates and forecasts, recharge targets and capacity procurement


  • You have solid experience having worked with one or more data platforms; have driven planning & execution of data platform migrations (For ex., AWS Redshift / Databricks to Snowflake) at an Enterprise scale

  • You have managed a team of technical leads and engineers in a multi-national organization with members spread across global regions & locations for ex., Guadalajara, Mexico; Barcelona, Spain; Chennai, India

  • Have worked with Architects, Engineering Leads, Snowflake Professional Services & Account Management across multiple business domains & global locations

  • You have created service adoption strategy and plan for an enterprise data platform service

  • Can embrace and evangelize ‘Enterprise Ways of Working’, evangelize Snowflake as a technology within AZ Data, Visualization and AI community and you are enthused to ramp-up adoption for Service
