Job Description:

The Communications Senior Manager will be responsible for identifying and developing high value, priority business communication strategies and implementing effective communications plans in India. Communication Managers will be in charge of overseeing all internal and external communications for a company, ensuring its message is consistent and engaging. Part of comms strategy, main duties include preparing detailed media reports, press releases, social media plan/ listening, risk mitigation plan based on the key assumptions and managing the communications agency.

His or her ability to work across AZ India operations (Commercial, R&D, Operations Site & Technology) and integration to enhance equity and share of voice on AZ footprints in India. The person will work in close collaboration with different functions, including but not limited to Commercial, Medical, and Government & Regulatory Affairs. 

Experience of effective Digital & Social Media strategy and its implementation is an important lever looking at the importance of SM in today’s pharma ecosystem.


The Communication Senior Manager will develop and oversee local communication plans for assigned areas, including:

  • Developing and driving strategic and integrated PR campaigns that support launch products and established products
  • Maximizing media coverage by developing media campaign strategies, developing media relations to enhance brand image and disease awareness
  • Develops differentiated Social Media Strategy & its effective implementation with new idea’s.
  • Prepare detailed media activity reports.
  • Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials.
  • Work with different marketing departments to generate new ideas and strategies.
  • Supervise projects to guarantee all content is publication-ready.
  • Create communication and marketing strategies for new products, launches, events, and promotions.
  • Lead the marketing and public relations staff.
  • Respond to communication-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Maximizing media coverage by developing media campaign strategies, developing media relations to enhance brand image and disease awareness
  • Creating internal communications targeted at employee engagement, cultural campaigns and / or best practice sharing
  • Providing communications support to the country leadership team for internal engagement, including quarterly scorecard updates, quarterly town halls, and translation and dissemination of Global priority communications
  • Providing communications support to the country leadership team for external-facing engagement and management, including media interviews and potential crisis management
  • Liaising and coordinating various company events and activities
  • Working closely with the Regional Communications Team
  • Managing the development and production of a full spectrum of corporate collateral


  • Excellent in analytical, research and strategic communications skills
  • Proven experience in leadership communications and strategic communications (corporate or / and brand).
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills
  • At least 10-12 years of experience in corporate communications, event management, public and media relations.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical / healthcare communications preferred
  • Experience in social media or digital promotions would be essential
  • Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills with good attention to detail
  • Mature, able to work independently, effectively manage projects within tight timelines and able to work under pressure when needed
  • University Bachelor's degree and above

Specific Technical Requirements

  • Experience with Social Media Strategy and its effective implementation. (basic knowledge to manage SEO, Social Media Listening and its insight.)
  • Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Online Communication Tools (eg. SurveyMonkey), Graphic Design skills (eg. Adobe Photoshop) highly desirable
