We are recruiting a Medical Training, Operations & Strategy Manager reporting directly into the Medical & Regulatory Affairs Director Switzerland.

The Medical Department is a strategic, co-creating and pro-active Business Partner. The Medical Training, Operations & Strategy Manager supports on strategic and tactical level the Medical Department to strengthen the role of the Medical Department as a strategic & pro-active Business Partner driven by Business Acumen. This function will embed the further realization of the transition of Medical Affairs into a pro-active co-creating and strategic partner  for both our organization and external stakeholders. The Medical Training, Operations & Strategy Manager develops, maintains and deploys training programs for Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Leads, Medical Liaisons, Medical Advisors and all other positions within the Medical Department, including the onboarding of new hires. The Medical Training, Operations & Strategy Manager will continuously analyse existing and upcoming gaps in the necessary competencies, resulting into a continuous training & development plan.

Your Tasks and responsibilities

  • Continuation, Implementation and improvement KPI workstream by evaluation current process & including new requirements
  • Establish KPI-thinking as the norm for planning, execution and evaluation
  • Drive uniformity between TA’s
  • Prepare Medical for the Future in collaboration with the Medical Staff & Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Lead-team
  • Drive collaboration with all internal stakeholders
  • Business Acumen: He/she will support Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Lead by advising, monitoring and action planning related to key performance measures (Veeva, KPIs, stakeholder plans, etc…)
  • He/she will set-up specific training programs in alignment with Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Leads to train Medical Scientific Liaisons & Medical Advisors concerning key performance measures and the application of relevant systems
  • He/she will set-up specific training programs in alignment with Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Leads for Medical Scientific Liaisons & Medical Advisors to support and enlarge ‘KPI thinking and acting
  • He/she will provide the Medical Staff departmental overviews concerning results and action planning related to key performance measures

Medical Operations

  • Responsible for Meeting Structure, set up, follow-up & guidance
  • Meeting : Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Leads – MAF – Social event
  • Responsible for (in collaboration with MD and CFO) : MAF Budget Governance & Maintenance MAF Education/Learning Budget
  • Responsible for contract Management Education - Learning
  • Records Retention
  • Communication MAF to company ( e.g. Marketing for Medical )
  • Team member of line manager meetings and platforms within AZ

Training, Onboarding & Development

  • Develops, maintains and deploys training programs for the Medical Affairs Group, aligned with the Global EUCAN and WESE Medical Affairs vision/strategy
  • Manage the creation and implementation of a joint MAF onboarding/development curriculum, including a common vision of the role and value of MAF
  • Executes plans for continuous improvement to create an environment within Medical Affairs that starts from patient & customer centricity and encourages co-creation & collaboration, creativity & innovation
  • Continuously analyze existing and upcoming gaps resulting into a continuous training & development plan
  • Install a culture of a learning Medical Affairs group/organization including Best Practice application, bilateral coaching practices, etc.
  • Collaborates with other internal stakeholders with regards to training and Development (e.g. Human Resources and the Sales Force Effectiveness & Training Manager )
  • Support/create a platform for medical employees to participate in EMEA initiatives

Your Profile / Qualifications / Experience

  • Extensive industry/business experience with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in an area relevant for this function (e.g. Medical Affairs, Sales & Marketing Management, Learning & Development and/or a health care analytics/services organization within the pharmaceutical industry)
  • Experience in middle or senior management
  • Business acumen and relevant experience/ training in business administration for Translation into strategy
  • Proven strong analytical, communication, decision-making, influencing and negotiation, presentation and leadership skills for interaction with external and internal stakeholders
  • Relationship-building & networking skills
  • Self-motivated & creative skills
  • Innovative, able to work in a matrix and coordinate and drive a complex and changing environment

  • Scientific degree: Medical Doctor, pharmaceutical or biomedical degree or equivalent by experience


Fluency in German and English is essential, any additional local language is a plus
