Lead Project Manager - Integrated Management Office

Location: Cambridge & Macclesfield, UK - 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Location: Waltham, US - Permanent Contract

Following the acquisition of Alexion, a global programme has been set up to integrate Alexion into the wider AstraZeneca group. This programme is a large scale and complex change initiative that impact's a large number of colleagues and across multiple functions in the AstraZeneca organization. The Integration management office (IMO) is the central organizing team of this programme, coordinating across a wide range of integration initiatives to enable the successful delivery of benefits. This role is a critical member of the IMO. It supports shaping the overall integration roadmap, and acts as a liaison between the programme and business stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are effectively translated into solutions, decisions are made supporting the integration principles, and benefits are delivered on time and in high quality.

Key responsibilities include

  • Support integration management program leaders to manage the portfolio of integration workstreams across a wide range of functions and geographies

  • Develops and consolidates the overall integration roadmap, incorporating individual initiative plans

  • Develops work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements to ensure deliverables are met effectively and efficiently

  • Manages relationships with a large number of senior business stakeholders

  • Deep engagement with integration workstreams to monitor progress, act as a trusted thought partner to advise teams on solutions and planning

  • Identify interdependencies across workstreams, anticipate risks and issues

  • Drive issue escalation and practical resolution

  • Summarise and prepare high quality reports for senior leaders on a regular basis

  • Applies highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in project management, project planning, budgets and methodologies

  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team and provides sign-off prior to engaging business stakeholders

  • Drives collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst project teams

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in multiple post-merger integration projects

  • Broad experience in a wide range of functions: Operations, IT, HR, Commercial, R&D

  • Experience in programme/project management in a large scale complex initiative, with a proven track record

  • Demonstrate strong, communication and relationship building skills with experience of collaborating and sharing knowledge between teams

  • Evidence of shaping and developing innovative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisation

  • Strong networking skills with good internal/external links

  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language and in alignment with AZ business

  • Proven track record in delivering high risk programme/projects and decision making

  • Excellent business engagement and business acumen with sensitivity to political/economic environment

  • Experience of working within a quality and compliance environment and application of policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context

Desirable Requirements

  • Strategy consulting or advisory experience

  • Experience of managing and controlling a budget
