AZ Global and in market commercial teams receive support for sales and marketing activities via centralized capabilities in Digital content, campaign management, business analytics and other commercial excellence activities. Global Commercial Operations provides these services as part of the Global Business Services function to over 60 countries.
The Senior Director, Global Commercial Operations (GCO) is a member of the GCO Senior Management Team and reports to the Head of Global Commercial Operations. The GCO Senior Director is responsible for leading the delivery of existing business services within our delivery centre in Chennai and Guadalajara (Mexico), setting up new services based on the GCO strategy and has shared responsibility for shaping global GCO delivery strategy.
The Senior Director for this role must have the ability to effectively partner, influence and challenge key Commercial Stakeholders to gain support for and fully demonstrate GCO capabilities. The individual must also ensure satisfaction and ongoing continuous improvement of existing capabilities as well as delivery of new capabilities to agreed goals. The Senior director also plays a key role in building a great Culture within our service centres aligned to the AstraZeneca values.
The Senior Director requires strong leadership skills, discernment and cultural awareness in order to develop and motivate their respective direct and indirect team members located in our delivery centres.
Own the development of the Strategy for the delivery operations for all GCO business services across all the towers of operations built in partnership with respective GCO tower lead and business partners.
Drive year on year time, quality and cost improvements using Lean, Six Sigma & Automation.
Own Business planning, resource and budget management and overall Governance for the centres.
Lead business performance management and business continuity planning including creation of clear performance metrics, outputs & performance trends and risk management. Ensure proper documentation of all processes and audit to certify “fit for purpose” on an annual basis.
Collaborate with GCO Seniors Director colleagues regarding potential new GCO capabilities and necessary Business Case creation to support GCO service expansion and project delivery. New GCO Services may require development of new tools, processes or a combination of both. As a member of GCO Leadership team review and evolve organizational structure to support future business needs.
Responsible for ongoing communication around GCO business operations to the commercial units and functional Leadership. Use reporting and utilization metrics to communicate overall adoption/performance of GCO services. Where there are gaps, work with Leadership to find opportunities for improvement.
Requires strong leadership, communication, Agile project management and critical thinking skills along with high cultural awareness to effectively lead and deliver successful global GCO services supported by a globally based multi-cultural team.
Possesses strong eye for business and understanding of the global AZ commercial model and Digital delivery processes and corresponding business requirements. Must be able to assess complex process and system interdependencies and devise appropriate organizational change approaches in order to realize and sustain benefits of new capabilities.
GCO services are sometimes delivered through outsourced partners in conjunction with AZ dedicated resources. This role demands an understanding of supplier management to ensure continuous value optimisation and high performance for AstraZeneca.
Operations are also delivered with partnership with the AZ Chennai/Guad IT team – there is a requirement to work in partnership with the AZ Chennai Leadership team to deliver operations and sit on the site leadership team. As part of the site leadership team draw upon the local support for space/seat management, BCP, compliance and HR services to be successful in running a great service and in readiness for expansion.
Demonstrates comprehensive understanding and application of all relevant policies, procedures and operational frameworks. Ensures GCO direct and indirect reports follow all appropriate AZ Code of Conduct policies and procedures.
Direct/Indirect: The overall GCO business services team across the Chennai and Guadalajara centres will be circa 300 people by the end of 2021.
Business/Marketing qualification at Degree or Masters level
Relevant experience and a depth of knowledge in the following areas:
5-10 Years of proven experience in running large teams providing service delivery to a global organization.
Ideally experience in delivering Marketing operations associated with Digital/Omnichannel delivery. Including Adobe/PowerBi/MSTR/Sprinklr.
Experience in scaling and optimizing new or insourced capabilities to support agile delivery and productivity improvements.
Experience in pharma or life science industries.
Have experience in working across geographies and cultures
Experience of building operational strategy to optimize delivery through inhouse or outsourced teams in multiple locations.
Financial performance management.
Track record in Talent management
Oral and written fluency in Business English
MBA in a relevant field (marketing, business, strategy, etc.)
3-4 years Sales and/or Brand experience
Digital Marketing Operations experience.
Blend of experience in working across IT and Marketing roles in any Pharma or Healthcare MNC
